A significant design and construct civil enabling works project for the construction of the Acute Services Building and supporting infrastructure.

Project elements were delivered as Separable Portions:

Bulk Earthworks to form the platform for the Acute Services Building

  • Major earthworks, sheetpiling, dewatering, drainage, service relocations and ground preparation  and remediation for 16,000m² foundation to new hospital
  • Excavation for in ground service connections with stormwater, wastewater, diesel and water systems

Stormwater Infrastructure with outfall to the Avon River

  • Stormwater reticulation comprising a 70,000 litre retention tank and wetwell housing submersibile pumps 

Wastewater Infastructure

  • Installation of a new wastewater pump station comprising a 100,000 litre and 50,000 litre retention tank with 23,000 litre wetwell housing submersible macerating pumps
  • A dedicated stand-alone wastewater pump facility to service Hagley Outpatients 
  • Modification of existing pipework and decommissioning of the Women’s Hospital wastewater pump station

Diesel Storage

  • Demolition and removal of existing tanks and infrastructure to accommodate a new diesel fuel system
  • Installation of a 70,000 litre single compartment, twin manway double skin fiberglass underground storage tank. The diesel system services  the Christchurch Women’s Hospital generator and boiler requirements, plus connection to the Acute Services Building

Potable Water

  • Removal of redundant water pipework including underground accessible service ducts
  • Installation of new pipework and controls to the proposed Acute Services Building
  • New 150mm PE watermain and Reduced Pressure Zone valve assembly off Riccarton Avenue

Services & Structures 

  • Foundations and steel frame structure housing the Clean Dock and Dirty Dock, including design and installation of automatic wet pipe fire sprinkler system
  • Foundation to form platform for goods lift, design supply and installation of goods lift and associated electrical works
  • Temporary container walkway and interconnecting canopies and roof structure, complete with weather protection, 
  • Bollards, hoardings and wheel stops 
  • Design, supply and installation of a traffic barrier arm and associated electrical works 
  • Concrete works; footpaths, forecourt slab and lift pit
  • Design, manufacture and supply of precast concrete channel to form below ground service tunnel
